Simultaneous contrast refers to the manner in which the colors of two different objects affect each other. The effect is more noticeable when shared between objects of complementary color.

this is also true with people.

it is said that a person appears more appealing than normal when contrasted with a person of less appeal and less appealing than normal when contrasted with one of greater appeal. Since we already did a color simultaneous contrast in class, I thought it would be interesting to make visual proof of simultaneous contrast with people. So here it is- because there are so many stories on how fat and ugly Britney Spears has become, I decided to use her as my main comparison.

First, I compared her to attractive stars known for their beauty, such as Jennifer Aniston, Jessica Alba, and Angelina Jolie.

She does look pretty bad, huh... :(

But when compared to regular, average looking

She looks pretty good! :)
this is the amazing effect of simultaneous contrast

In conclusion, if Britney wants to stop being called hideous, she should either start doing something to look better or start hanging out with uglier people to look more attractive.

Gray Style Trend Fall 2007

The chromatic gray assignment got me thinking about last season's gray trend. Black and white have always been the base of fashion colors, but the sudden rise in popularity of grays were seen almost on every runway - and the streets.

From charcoal to silver and pewter to pearl, they can be matched up with black and white for a tailored look or tones of brown for a more casual look. Jewel tones also go well with gray for night.  My favorite color match was charcoal with yellow and gold accessories. It looks fresh yet not too overdone.

The chromatic gray assignment helped me see the different grays and what colors create it. Loved this assignment.

about mixing colors.

mixing two primary colors creates a secondary color and
mixing three primary colors creates a tertiary color.

i never knew mixing colors was so much fun, think i found my new passion. i also realized i could do this forever if i wanted to. where do i begin and where does it end! there are so many possibilities :)

t h e c o l o r w h e e l
aka color circle.

the color wheel consists of primary. secondary. and complementary colors.

primary colors are blue . red . yellow
secondary colors are green . orange . violet
tertiary colors are red-orange . red-violet . yellow-orange
yellow-green . blue-violet . blue-green

a my opinion.
making a color wheel is not so interesting
but it is definitely very helpful for an artist to make once in their lifetime.
and another thing - it's pretty to look at :)
t h e c o l o r RED.

red is a primary color.
different shades of red include scarlet, maroon, brick, and fire engine red.

red stands for danger. it stands for hell and the devil. red is the color of blood and reminds us of accidents and death. red is communism. red is war and anger. red is poverty. it is the color of burning fire.

red also stands for love and passion. it shows power and warmth. red is sexy and bold and bright. it symbolizes wealth and luck. it reminds us of lego block
s and firetrucks. it is the color of apples and roses and the red carpet. red is christmas and valentine's day. red is patriotic and strong!

as we were walking out of the building, we took pictures of anything red we saw.
they turned out to be mostly signs on the walls.

the first sign said "no spray mounting in the building"
the second was a "no talking on cell phone in classrooms"
and third "no food or drinks in the computer labs".

in conclusion, basically all the signs in red means don`t do.

but outside we saw red used for other things.
a red newspaper box with the words "brighter. bolder." a coca-cola bottle and a mural on the wall.
